About Kae Infotech Consulting and Services, LLC

My name is Karen "Kae" Russell. I started Kae Infotech as a vehicle for enterprise consulting. Some people fall into tech. I walked in on purpose and never wanted to leave. Forty-one years later I still get excited about a well-designed system, a clean data flow, and a problem that finally clicks into place. This was never just a job for me. It was — and still is — my thing. Tech was the right career choice for me and I knew it early. I chose it in high school after writing my first "hello world" computer program in math class and never looked back.

I grew up in the industry the old fashioned way. In the trenches. Learning by doing. Being relentlessly curious, but humble enough to know there was always more to learn. From mainframe to cloud, I was not watching it happen from the sidelines. I was in it, doing the work, figuring it out in real time.

About halfway through my career, a layoff became a turning point. I became a consultant. Since then I have consulted in every role related to software development — Developer, Business Systems Analyst, Product Owner, Product Manager, Project Manager, Process Analyst, and Data Analyst. I participated on teams, I have led teams, I've been a team of one. I have worked inside some of the most demanding regulated environments in financial services, manufacturing, insurance, and government at institutions you would recognize.

I still love enterprise consulting work deeply. But I am also a person who pays attention. The world is changing and the gaps I see are not small ones. Systems thinking and pattern recognition - the core of tech - are useful in a myriad of other ways: In bringing real expert advice to founders and entrepreneurs who deserve access to it but can't afford a big firm. In building structure and breathing room for the person who is carrying everything and running on empty. In honoring the brilliance of a neurodivergent population that the world keeps trying to fit into the wrong boxes. In making sure the Black and female perspectives are in the room before someone does something they can't take back.

I have lived every single one of these scenarios personally and professionally. I don't see them as separate businesses. I see them as one answer to problems I refuse to ignore.

Systems Thinking + Pattern Recognition for an evolving world.

Stay Curious,

Karen "Kae" Russell
